The Quest in Search for Unlimited Energy

Ever since the discovery of fire in the prehistoric ages, Homo Sapiens  or Humans have been in the search for energy resources to satisfy their hunger for power. The boom for energy resources gathered momentum with the discovery of electricity and fossil fuels. Current finite energy resources, i.e petroleum products,  nuclear and coal, have numerous ecological and health impacts. Look at some of the recent accidents below:

Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill
The catastrophic explosion that caused an oil spill from a BP offshore drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico has reached the shoreline. Efforts to manage the spill with controlled burning, dispersal and plugging the leak have so far been unsuccessful. This oil spill has now obtained the dubious distinction of being the worst oil spill in US history, surpassing the damage done by the Exxon Valdez tanker that spilled 11 million gallons of oil into the ecologically sensitive Prince William Sound in 1989. Unlike the Exxon Valdez tragedy, in which a tanker held a finite capacity of oil, BP's rig is tapped into an underwater oil well and could pump more oil into the ocean indefinitely until the leak is plugged.

Oak Creek coal plant explosion injures five

An explosion at We Energies’ Oak Creek coal fired power plant complex has left five workers who were working inside a dust collection silo injured, according to Barry McNulty, We Energies spokesman.
We Energies and Oak Creek fire department officials are investigating the incident to determine what sparked the explosion and ensuing fire. An Oak Creek fire department official said four of the workers were critically injured and transported via Flight for Life helicopters to St. Mary’s Burn Center, Milwaukee.
The coal handling facility was constructed more than a year ago by Bechtel Power Corp. at a cost of $175 million.

All these commercial energy production accidents have more accident risks and cost even more to build and maintain, what more to say ecologically hazardous. If you have the power to make a difference to the environment and significantly save your own money while doing so, would you take up that role?
